Arrampicare in provincia di Gorizia

A sud della città di Gorizia si innalzano i rilievi carsici che da qui continuano poi fino in Istria, ed è a sud che si deve recare chi voglia trovare l'unica falesia attrezzata della provincia.
Le pareti si trovano a Doberdò tra Gorizia e Monfalcone, affacciate a sud, sul grande lago carsico di Doberdò che lentamente si sta mutando in palude di grande interesse naturalistico e paesaggistico.

La falesia è adatta anche a principianti, in quanto offre molte vie di livello medio-facile che sono ottimamente attrezzate.

I rilievi e le valli tutto intorno sono state teatro dei feroci scontri tra esercito italiano e austro-ungarico durante la prima guerra mondiale, e oltre ad una visita al rifugio casa Cadorna, a pochi minuti dalle pareti, altro consiglio è di incamminarsi lungo uno degli innumerevoli sentieri che, diramandosi in tutte le direzioni portano attraverso percorsi storici, trincee e testimonianze del conflitto.

Per chi si trovasse a visitare la falesia durante il periodo autunnale, un altro incentivo ad esplorare i dintorni sarà sicuramente la bellezza e la ricchezza dei colori che in questa stagione illuminano il carso.

Climbing crag near Gorizia

Just south of the city of Gorizia rise the elevations of the Karst, that from this point continue uninterrupted up to Istria, and it is to the south that who wants to visit the only equipped crag in the province of Gorizia needs to go.

The walls are near Doberdò del Lago, between Gorizia and Monfalcone, exposed to the south, overlooking the big karst lake of Doberdò, that is slowly turning into a swamp of great naturalistic and landscape interest.
The crag is suitable for beginners, as it offers many easy to medium routes that are very well equipped.

Elevations and valleys all around have been theatre of the cruel and bloody fights between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies during the first world war, and aside from a visit to the rifugio casa Cadorna, just minutes from the crag, another advice is to take a walk along one of the many trails that lead in all directions through historical walks, trenches and remains of the conflict.

For anybody visiting the crag in autumn, one other incentive to explore the surroundings will certainly be the beauty and rich variety of the colours that give light to the Karst in this time of the year.
